    Windows Updates

Question:  How do I install Windows XP Automatic Updates?

Answer:  PITS sends out Windows Updates from Microsoft to each of our computers for automatic installation. These updates contain software changes to protect your workstation from security vulnerabilities and to increase the performance of installed software. These updates are usually critical and it is required the be installed. If you are prompted to install windows updates, please go ahead and complete the installation.

The prompt to install the update looks like this:

If you choose to delay installing the updates, the yellow shield remains in your system tray (the area containing icons [usually located] in the lower-right corner of your screen).

If you have questions about this process please direct them to HelpDesk@prairie.edu
