1. Email Nasties -- SPAM is always a "fun" topic and we have gotten our share over the summer. Two recent problems have been the bogus "Greeting Card" messages and the threat from PDF attachments. In both cases the best rule of thumb is, "If you are not 100% sure the sender is valid no NOT open the message or attachment" Another good one is "When in doubt, DON'T" Contact PITS (HelpDesk@prairie.edu or ext 3395) because we would much rather take 5 minutes answering a question then possibly hours cleaning an infected machine. http://PITS.prairie.edu/Nasties/
   
   
2. Intranet Goodies -- We have moved the Intranet sites http://intra.prairie.edu and http://pits.prairie.edu to their new home and given them a new look-n-feel. This move also allows us to open http://intra.prairie.edu to access from the outside. You will need to use your 100Acre username and password just like you do if you are reading your email using the web interface (http://WebMail.prairie.edu).  Remember to Prefix your username with "100acre\" (Example: Fred Smith would enter   100acre\SmithF)

A final note, it seems that many don't know that the email address HelpDesk@prairie.edu goes to several of us in the PITS so we can get the most qualified person working on your requests so, please, always send new computer requests to HelpDesk@prairie.edu. And if you have jobs for Copy Center they should go to CopyCenter@prairie.edu. The guys in the PITS
